Why Every Parent Needs a HEALTH VISITOR

Meet Julia – A Trusted Guide for Growing Families

TickiKids is delighted to introduce Julia’s health service — a Health Visitor, a compassionate and expert-led support for families during their most important years. With over 14 years of experience as a Public Health Nurse, 10 years as a Health Visitor, and more than 6 years as an Infant Feeding Specialist, Julia brings a wealth of knowledge, empathy, and real-world insight to every family she supports.

What makes Julia’s support truly special is not just her professional expertise, but also her personal experience. She’s married and a proud mum of four adult children in their twenties, giving her a unique and relatable perspective that resonates with the families she works with. Her work is powered by a deep and genuine passion for Early Intervention — the belief that the choices we make in the earliest stages of life shape the wellbeing and health of our future. As she often says, “The seeds of a healthier life are planted in early childhood.”

Julia’s approach is warm, evidence-based, and deeply supportive, helping parents feel more confident and empowered every step of the way. Whether you're navigating baby’s first feeds, tackling toddler tantrums, or simply seeking reassurance, Julia is here to help you make informed, healthy choices for your little ones — because she knows that a great start builds a brighter future.

When it comes to your baby’s health and wellbeing, every parent wants the very best — and that goes beyond just medical care!

While your midwife supports you during pregnancy and your paediatrician monitors your child’s health, there’s another key professional who plays a crucial role in your parenting journey: a Health Visitor.

Health Visitors are highly trained public health nurses who specialise in supporting families with children from birth to five years. Think of them as your personal parenting guide — someone who understands both the clinical and practical sides of raising little ones. From infant feeding, sleep routines, and developmental milestones to emotional wellbeing, immunisations, home safety, and school readiness — they’re here to help you navigate it all with confidence.

When Can You See a Health Visitor?

Whether you're expecting your first baby or already parenting multiple children, Health Visitor offer tailored support through every stage:

  • Antenatal support – Beyond your midwife and obstetrician, a Health Visitor can help answer pressing questions about pregnancy, preparing for birth, or managing expectations. Already a parent? Get expert tips on sibling adjustment, routines, and balancing the needs of more than one child.

  • Ad hoc consultations – Need quick advice or reassurance? Ask about anything related to your baby or child’s growth, development, or behaviour.
  • New birth visit – A gentle check-in soon after your baby arrives to support feeding, bonding, and your emotional wellbeing.
  • 6–8 week postnatal review – Supporting both parent and baby during this important early transition.

  • 8–9 month review – Guidance on weaning, mobility, communication, and early play.
  • 12-month developmental review – Supporting the first major leaps in independence and development.
  • 2-year developmental review – Focusing on communication, social skills, behaviour, and school readiness.

More than Medical Care

Unlike paediatricians who treat illnesses or midwives who focus on pregnancy and delivery, Health Visitors are there for the everyday moments that matter — from feeding and sleep struggles to parenting worries and mental health. They work in your home, local clinics, or virtually, giving advice that’s practical, personalised, and rooted in evidence.

When it comes to raising little ones, a Health Visitor is your secret weapon for confident parenting — and with Julia by your side, you’re never alone on the journey!

Want to Know More or Book a Session?

This short session is designed to give you and your Health Visitor a chance to connect. Julia will gather some basic background information about your baby, and you can explore your concerns or questions. It’s a helpful way for both of you to see if Julia’s services are the right fit for your family — before you decide to book a full consultation.

Let’s talk!   Give Julia a call or drop her a WhatsApp — your parenting journey just got a whole lot more supported!
