How to spend an unforgettable weekend in Dubai with children

If you are planning a weekend in Dubai with kids, you might be looking for a great idea of how it can be done. This city can surprise not only adults, but also kids: aquariums, beaches, parks, slides, safaris – everything is a short trip away. Time to put together a convenient two-day itinerary with Dubai luxury car rental, so that you can get the most out of this trip without rushing or stressing. A few personal tips, a couple of life hacks, and real locations where kids will definitely say – «We want more!».

Adventure and Exploration

To make your incredible adventure a little bit more structured and fun, it is better to divide it into certain parts of the day. Starting with the morning and what you are about to do when the day has only started.

Morning – Breakfast at a Family-Friendly Cafe

The best starting point is the morning at The Farm at Al Barari, a cozy cafe surrounded by greenery and silence. It is recommended to rent Lamborghini and arrive here at 8 AM to find cool air and free tables. The kids immediately ran to the playground, and we chose a table on the terrace by the water. Just order pancakes and avocado toast, they are delicious, although the wait can be a bit long. The coffee is good and it creates a relaxing atmosphere, as there are lots of families with children. Be sure to take sun hats and water – it gets hot in the sun around 9:00 AM. This is a cool place, but it is better to book in advance, by 9:30 everything is taken.

Mid-Morning – Thrills at IMG Worlds of Adventure

After breakfast, Lamborghini hire allows you to go to IMG Worlds of Adventure, an indoor amusement park just 20 minutes from Al Barari. It is a huge place, the kids had plenty of room to roam. Kids like the areas with Marvel characters and dinosaurs, and the youngest delight with the Powerpuff Girls.

The park is conveniently designed – it is cool inside, there are cafes and places to relax. It is recommended to take a stroller for babies: the distances are quite long. People often stay here for about three hours, as it allows them to see almost everything.

Lunch – a Fun Dining Experience at Rainforest Cafe

For lunch you can choose the Rainforest Cafe in Dubai Mall – perfect place to visit with kids. Inside it is like a real jungle:

  • Thunder.
  • Flashes of lightning.
  • Moving animals.

While kids can spend their time looking at the aquarium and laughing at the talking frog, you will have a quiet lunch with your partner. The food is simple but tasty – most people get burgers and pasta. A perfect advice is to ask for a table closer to the gorilla as the kids will be thrilled to see this robotic creature. Just be prepared to walk – the restaurant is hidden in the depths of the mall.

Afternoon – Exploring The Dubai Mall

After lunch, just go to explore The Dubai Mall – not only a giant shopping mall, but also a whole world of entertainment for children. First, you can go to the Dubai Aquarium – an impressive tunnel with sharks, rays and dozens of species of fish. Also take a «behind the scenes» tour as they show how they take care of marine animals, which turns out to be unexpectedly interesting even for adults.

Buy a combined ticket in advance – it is cheaper. And do not forget socks, in some areas they are mandatory, and security strictly monitors this.

Evening – Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain Show

Around sunset, use the car rental to take your kids to the Burj Khalifa, which is next to the Dubai Mall. It is best to buy tickets to the observation deck – 124th or 148th floor in advance, especially for 5:30 or 6:00 PM to catch the magical sunset. Kids will love the telescopes and interactive panels. Then take a stroll to the singing fountain, which starts at 6:30 or 7:00 PM. It is best to reserve a spot by the lake in advance. It can be chilly at the top, so bring a light jacket.

Dinner – a Casual Meal at Eataly

The best way to finish the day with dinner at Eataly in Dubai Mall – the kids love their pasta and ice cream. The atmosphere is lively, the kitchen is open, everything is in front of you. After the meal, the kids chose their own dessert. If you are tired, it is better to return to the hotel early and gain strength for the next day.

Perfect Day Two in Nature

Thanks to the ability to rent a car for a weekend, it is possible to start the morning at Jones the Grocer in Al Manzil Souk, a cozy place we accidentally discovered while hiding from the heat. The place seems to be made for family breakfasts: kids choose between waffles and mini omelettes, and adults enjoy cappuccinos overlooking a quiet courtyard. There is a small play area – it is not super modern, but the kids are delighted just by the opportunity to make a little noise.

By 10 AM there is enough time to go to Dubai Miracle Garden. While it may seem like flowers are boring for children, in fact it turns out the opposite. Flower castles, a heart of fuchsias, a plane made of living plants – it all looks like a scene from a cartoon. Nearby is the Butterfly Garden, where butterflies land right on your hands, and the kids squeal with delight. The only thing is – take water and hats, even in the morning it is quite hot.

You can have a picnic as a lunch in Safa Park. Just buy sandwiches and fruit in advance at a nearby cafe. Surprisingly, even on a weekend, there are many quiet corners.

After lunch, change the pace – go for a walk along Al Seef. This is the embankment where old Dubai seems to come alive. Traditional-style houses, wooden boats, the aroma of spices, the atmosphere is amazing. Look into the Museum of Illusions, where even adults have fun, especially in the room where the floor and ceiling seem to have swapped places. For a snack, a cultural stop at SMCCU, where the children were shown Arabic calligraphy and told a fairy tale about Bedouins. Unexpectedly educational.

The perfect end of the day is a sunset in the Al Qudra desert. Arrive at the lakes, spread out a blanket, give children some time to collect pebbles, and wait for the stars to appear. The guided starry sky tour is easy and interesting. Night in the desert is a completely different rhythm of life.
