Cinema Akil presents DETERMINED! an American Film Showcase program dedicated to those who defied all expectations and achieved the impossible.
To those whose courage and unstoppable determination are a source of inspiration. The program will tour in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi between December 2018 and March 2019. DETERMINED! is in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai.
We kick off with a screening of the documentary PICK OF THE LITTER, followed by a Q&A with the directors, Dana Nachman and Don Hardy moderated by UAE athlete Chaica Al Qassemi. Pick of the Litter is an inspiring documentary about the journey of a guide dog.
Screening is free entry on a first-come-first-seated basis and is at the cinema room inside A4 Space in Alserkal Avenue.
DETERMINED! is part of the activations leading up to the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, the largest sports and humanitarian event in the world next year, welcoming 7,000 athletes from more than 170 nations to participate in 24 officially-sanctioned Olympic-style sports from 14-21 March 2019.

About the American Film Showcase
The American Film Showcase brings award-winning contemporary American documentaries, independent fiction films, and documentary know-how to audiences around the world, offering a view of American society and culture as seen by independent filmmakers. Funded by a grant from the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and produced by the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), the Showcase joins local embassies and partners to highlight the value of film in fostering understanding and cooperation, dialogue and debate.
