Become a Junior Biologist this summer!
Dubai Aquarium's new summer program for kids aged 7-14 years old is perfect for those passionate about marine animals and ocean conservation. The aim of Dubai Aquarium’s Junior Biologist summer camp is to educate kids with the right information based on science to create informed, future custodians of the ocean and all its wonderful creatures within it.
What you can expect:
- Get up close and touch live marine creatures
- Find out why animals look and feel the way they do, how they function and what their role is in the marine environment
- Learn what problems humans create for them and why we need to look after them.
- Learn about Sharks and the important role they play in the marine ecosystem
- Understand what it takes to be an aquarist and how aquariums run
- Meet the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo carers and vets
This summer camp will be an experience they will never forget!
Sunday: Full tour at the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo (Tunnel, Zoo, BTS, GBB, watching all feeding sessions).
Monday: Hands on training on propagating corals, understanding shark breeding, shadowing Aquarists
Tuesday: Animal feeding, LSS tour, understanding basic animal anatomy, different adaptation of the animals, studying the local species of UAE.
Wednesday: Prepare an ethogram to catalogue the different types of animal behaviours and activities, including a one-on-one with the aquarist.
Thursday: Classroom day to learn about the common treatments for animals, understanding the five kingdoms of living things, and the importance of conservation. Final quiz / exam, and certificate presentation.
The program is limited to 25 students so they can get the best learning experience. Kids are given take-home materials to complete to earn their ‘junior biologist badges at each session. The weekly program includes morning snack and lunch daily as well as a certificate of completion.
