Improvised Kids' Storytime: Little Dahlings

What happens when you mix the wonderfully weird world of Roald Dahl with the limitless imagination of children?

You get Little Dahlings, an interactive improvised storytime where the audience gets to decide what happens next. Coming to Courtyard Playhouse on 12 September, 26 September and 10 October at 11am, with an additional performance on 10 October at 2pm, Little Dahlings invites families to step into a world of mischievous characters, peculiar creatures and unexpected adventures — all created live on
stage.
Inspired by the magical mind of one of the world’s most beloved children’s authors, the show takes audiences on a completely original adventure. But there’s one catch: the story doesn’t exist yet. The children in the audience help create it.

Who will be our hero? Who will be the villain? Will we meet a monster, a talking animal, a mischievous child or something nobody could have imagined? With suggestions from the audience, the performers build the story entirely on the spot, bringing it to life through music, movement, singing, dancing, silliness and plenty of surprises.

Fans of Roald Dahl’s wonderfully eccentric world may recognise the spirit of characters like Matilda, Augustus Gloop and The Twits, but every Little Dahlings performance is completely unique. No scripts. No set story. No two shows are ever the same.
Little Dahlings is part theatre, part storytelling and part creative playground — giving children the chance to see their own ideas become part of a live performance. And because it’s improvised, families can come back for another show and discover an entirely new adventure every time.
