The Academy

The weekly Musical Theatre course covers everything students need to learn. The Academy provides students the chance to explore the glitter and glamour of the West End and Broadway.

The courses are broken down into three disciplines of acting, dance and singing taught by industry experts.

During the online classes we will follow a specific theme. We cover the work of Sondheim, Rogers & Hammerstein, Lloyd Webber, Mackintosh and many more, giving our students the foundation from which to develop a broad musical theatre repertoire.

The Academy Associates

The Academy Associates is a pathway course is designed to give students 7-10Yrs an introduction to all three performing arts disciplines: acting, singing and dancing. After completing The Academy Associates programme students will be equipped with the core skills needed to move onto the more intensive Academy course (3 hours: Acting, Singing and Dancing). Students will be introduced to the core acting techniques: improvisation, devising and learning how to create character through voice and physicality. Students will learn different dance styles: jazz, tap and contemporary to secure technique, posture and to develop versatility and most importantly how to express themselves and perform through movement. Students will also cover basic voice techniques and understand how to act through song.

Public Speaking - Upper Primary School

Want to get ahead? Want to know how to influence and motivate a group? Want to know how to argue your case with reason and deliberation?

This Public Speaking Course is for everyone from the naturally outgoing to the strong and silent types. Public speaking is a powerful tool. It helps people understand the nuances of motivational speaking, reasoned argument, influence, persuasion, and how to deliver speeches in an entertaining and informative way. The course offers practical advice in all areas of presentation skills including body language, voice, speechwriting and debating, as well as prepared and impromptu performances. Throughout the course students will work on independent and group projects, giving them opportunities to take leadership roles and learning how to work effectively as a strong team player. All students will be given the opportunity to take a Speaking in Public LAMDA Examination.

Public Speaking - Middle School

Want to get ahead? Want to know how to influence and motivate a group? Want to prepare yourself for university and the job market?

The CentreStage Studios HK Public Speaking course is guaranteed to build students’ confidence and will promote courage and conviction when speaking in public. The course coaches students to develop and hone the oral communication and written skills that students will need when debating, negotiating, persuading, or conducting university or job interviews. The course promotes courage, conviction and an understanding of reason when delivering speeches to any audience. Students will have the chance to create arguments, influence their peers and make an impact by communicating their ideas in an organised and coherent manner, while having the confidence to effectively justify their views to others. They will learn how to commit themselves to reasoned argument and debate. All students will be given the opportunity to take a Speaking in Public LAMDA Examination

HIP HOP

Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping and locking. Hip hop dancing is very dynamic and helps dancers improve flexibility, develop body balance and coordination. Students will begin the course by securing their technical foundations including posture, learning dance vocabulary and start to explore musicality. Each week students will explore funky hip-hop routines to the most popular, current music. Through this we will encourage students to step outside of the box and bring their own individual style and personality to the movements

Acting - Upper Primary

The weekly 7-10yrs acting classes aim to help our students gain confidence, courage and creativity. Classes are taught in a safe, trusting and creative environment. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves and work together as a team. We work on improvisation, characterisation, monologues, play scripts of various genres, physicality and expression. It is our aim to allow students to explore the world of the theatre and have fun doing so!

Senior Acting Classes - 14 YRS +

The weekly senior acting classes will give our students the tools to transfer the page to the stage. It is integral for all students to know and understand that they are working together as a company of performers and a trusting and fluid creative environment is essential. Students will be challenged and encouraged to take risks and lose their inhibitions in order to grow as an actor. We look at the work of Stanislavski, Meisner, Strasberg, Brecht and more with the aim to learn which methods work for the individual. During our acting classes we touch upon devised drama, physical theatre, audition preparation and improvisation. This course allows us to equip our students with the tools and skills they need to take the next step of vocational training at a Drama School.

Musical Theatre

Calling all budding performers! The term ‘Musical Theatre’ is most notably linked to the West-End and Broadway. It combines all three performing arts disciplines: acting, singing and dancing. Our courses teach students how to act through song, perform through dance and ultimately to become ‘triple threat’ performers.

Each lesson our students will be introduced to new repertoire.

Classical Ballet

Ballet teaches elegance, pose, attention to detail and physical strength. While our classes focus on technique our ultimate aim is to produce Ballet dancers who demonstrate musicality and artistry when performing. Our Ballet curriculum is carefully devised in such a way to provide students with a holistic understanding of Classical Ballet and the various practitioners that are instrumental to the industry. Alongside the RAD Examination framework students are introduced to Cechetti, Benesh Notation and ISTD styles.

Speech Festival Training

At CentreStage Studios HK we believe that students grow in confidence, courage and creativity from taking part in the Speech Festival. We have experienced expert coaches that specialise in public speaking and vocal coaching. During our tuition we work together to ensure students interpret the text and that they can clearly and expressively convey the meaning. We work on speech skills such as articulation, voice control, pronunciation and intonation. Our students are coached to ensure they can confidentially command the stage and engage effectively with the audience. CentreStage Studios HK diligently seek advice from HKSMA committee to ensure that our students are fully prepared and achieve wonderful results.
