Harry Wright International Swim Camp 2017!
The Harry Wright International Swim Camp, will take place at West Island School. This Year the Head Coach of their Camp will be US Olympic Swim Coach Todd Schmitz.
Todd Schmitz, has had a great coaching career. He has coached swimmers from Age Group, Senior and Collegiate Swimmers. The most famous of these swimmers in non-other than Missy Franklin.
Missy Franklin has won 4 Olympic Gold Medals at the 2012 Olympics and Set a World Record in the 200 Backstroke. Todd has played a major part in Missy Development having coached her from the Age of 8 years old at the Colorado Stars Swim Team.
The Harry Wright International Swim Camp, will be divided into 2 Streams:
Performance Stream:
The Performance Stream Camp is open to Swimmers who:
- Open To Advance Age Group swimmers
- Swimmers have to train 6 – 8 times a week with their Home Club Team
- Swim a Minimum of 5000 meters a session with their Home Club Team
- Qualified for their Countries National Age Group Competition
Swimmers who swim in the Performance Stream will be exposed to 2 Swim Sessions a day, five dryland and yoga sessions in the week as well as guest speakers, who will be focusing on mental skills training and nutrition, dryland and yoga sessions in the week as well as guest speakers, who will be focusing on mental skills training and nutrition.
Development Stream:
The Development Stream Camp is open to Swimmers who:
- Are part of their Development Squads at the Home Club Team or been swimming Competitively for three years or more
- Swimmers in the Development Stream must be between the ages of 9 -12 years
- Swim a Minimum of 4 times a week with their Home Club Team
- All Swimmers attending this Camp must be able to Swim a 200 IM with legal turns and streamline and 50’s in each stroke.
Swimmers who attend the Development camp will be exposed to two 1 hour sessions a day, dryland sessions during the week as well as guest speaker who will speak about mental skills and nutrition, dryland sessions during the week as well as guest speaker who will speak about mental skills and nutrition.
It’s important to note that the Harry Wright International Camp follows the principle of Long Term Athlete Development. It’s very important that parents speak the club coaches or Swim Camp Director, to find out which stream will be best suited for each Swimmer.
