The Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) is hosting the “Unleash! e-Forum” from 30th to 31st July 2020 virtually. Covid-19 is a stark manifestation of a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world. With “Managing VUCA with Design Thinking” as the theme this year, local and international experts will share why and how design thinking has become more relevant and important in innovating how businesses and society should be run under the new normal.

Local and international experts and practitioners will share at this online forum why and how design thinking has created value to their organisations, their customers, employees and other stakeholders; and why it has become more important in times of crisis. It will be an interactive event for participants to engage actively with the forum speakers and get their insights and tips on how design thinking can be introduced and applied effectively to enhance the agility and innovation capability of organisations.

Day one of the forum (30 July) will focus on how design thinking can be applied to improve the well being of our citizens and society. Dr Bernard Pak-li Chan, JP, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development at The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will officiate the opening of the forum. There will be 2 case study panels: Rethinking Medical & Health Services and Co-Creating Innovation. Charles Hayes, Executive Managing Director, Asia and Partner at IDEO (a leading design and innovation consultancy), will conclude Day 1 of the forum with a dialogue with the forum participants on the new meaning of well being.

Day two of the forum (31 July) will focus on how design thinking can be applied to enhance the sustainability of businesses. There will be 2 case study panels:The Digital Transformation Imperative and Building a Human-centric and Innovative Workforce. Chris Pacione, Co-Founder and CEO of LUMA Institute (a leading design training institute), will deliver the opening keynote on how design thinking has become more relevant than ever in helping businesses to stay relevant and competitive.
