Auspicious Day

Auspicious Day

10.03.2018 - 25.03.2018

Part Three of the “Family in crisis” series
What makes a perfect life?

What is the purpose of marriage?
Staying with one’s beloved for years to come?  Or begetting children, planning for thefuture?
To her, marriage is just an escape from present circumstances.
Turning traditional rituals on their heads, this story bids a gentle farewell although a daughter doesn’t marry.
Mother and daughters pour their hearts out with astounding secrets in a bedroom.
When the auspicious day is upon us, a new life will begin.

Following the poor mother and rich father syndromes in The Last Supper and The Sin Family respectively, Matthew Cheng creates yet another family drama combining realism with absurdist characteristics.  His unique perspective magnifies familial issues that are often overlooked.  Directing this new play is frequent collaborator Fong Chun Kit.  Another remarkable production is in waiting with this dynamic duo.
