Hong Kong Ballet will stage two full-length productions of Le Corsaire from 3-5 and 10-12 November 2017 and The Nutcracker from 15-17, 19-20 and 22-26 December 2017 at the Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
The seamless choreography in Anna-Marie Holmes’s Le Corsaire vividly depicts an exotic fable of a dashing pirate’s love for a beautiful harem girl. Featuring one of the most breathtaking spectacles in all ballet, this production has captive maidens, rich pashas, suspenseful abductions dramatic rescues and a poisoned rose, all culminating in an unexpected shipwreck.
The Nutcracker Hong Kong’s ultimate family holiday tradition, and the Company will present Australian choreographer Terence Kohler’s version of the splendor and magic of Clara and Fritz’s grand adventure! Journey into the dollhouse and up the larger-than-life Christmas tree to behold the heroic Nutcracker defeat the evil Rat King and to reunite with the Ballerina, his true love!
HK Ballet is inviting young talent to audition for roles in the Jardin Animée scene of Le Corsaire and roles of Clärchen’s Family Members, Mice, Waltz of the Flowers in The Nutcracker. Successful applicants will have this special opportunity to share the stage with our Company dancers!
The audition for both productions will be held on 3 September 2017 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
