Who knew you could become famous by painting soup cans, ketchup bottles or sunglasses?

 

Many artists became famous in the mid-1900s by creating pop art paintings based on everyday products. Children can embrace their inner pop artist by creating a super burger, collage of popular commercial product as well as recycling art in this module. 

  • Objective: Compose a colorful painting in Stuart Davis’s style by making use of graphic design of commercial products or household implements as elements 
  • Overlapping shapes and words

  • Materials: Tempera paint, sharpie markers and commercial product packaging
  • Outcome: Bold colored painting with paper collage
