Discover the fun world of Venetian masks in a fantasia of music, dance and drama
Musicus Fest celebrates its 5th anniversary with its first original production - Marco Polo goes to the Carnival. In this magical work, composer Willis Wong transforms his vision of the Carnival of Venice into a joyful score featuring Western and Chinese musical instruments. Performed by a magnificent cast of musicians, young ballerinas and international actors, the scenes are filled with Venetians spirit.
The concert also features Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne, derived from his ballet Pulcinella. With choreography by Joffrey Ballet’s Victoria Vargas, the ballerinas bring the score to life in a mélange of poise and artistry.
