Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park

Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park covers an area of about 4.22 hectares and is located at Eastern Street North, Sai Ying Pun. Open to the public since 26 June 2010, the Park’s major facilities include one 7-a-side soccer pitch (artificial turf) and two basketball courts.

Dr Sun was forced out of Hong Kong by British colonial government under the pressure of the Qing Dynasty because of his leading role in Chinese revolution. A staunch advocate of Chinese economic development, Dr Sun published the Plans for National Reconstruction, a programme for building a rich and strong nation. Dr Sun made a strong case for railway development as the key to China's modernization and presented a blueprint on five major strategic rail networks for the country. The Children's Play Area is designed around the theme of railways as a tribute to Dr Sun's vision of China’s future economic advances.

The park also includes an open lawn and plenty of scooter-friendly sidewalks.

Facilities in the Park work 24 hours daily, except 7-a-side soccer pitch (artificial turf), which operates from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm daily
