The Mira Hong Kong

The Mira Hong Kong

Mira-velous & Original

In 2008, visionary owner Martin Lee brought in celebrity lifestyle guru Colin Cowie and spent US$65 million renovating the 16-floor The Miramar Hotel, a timeworn Hong Kong institution in need of a makeover. Cowie and Lee first met when Lee hired him to orchestrate his wedding to former model and actress Cathy Chui at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney, Australia, where Chui spent much of her childhood. Lee was so impressed with what Cowie accomplished on such short notice that he asked him if he would like to redesign the penthouse ballroom at the The Mira Hong Kong, soon to become the most fashionable wedding venue in the city. In the midst of it, Cowie asked Lee what his vision was for the rest of the hotel. The result of this collaboration can be seen in the 492 guestrooms, suites, dining and event facilities fusing modern design with traditional Asian hospitality.

The Mira Hong Kong's 492 rooms are dressed in shades of red, green, silver or purple, creatively corresponding to your mood. In the marble-floored lobby, undulating purple and lilac lines point the way to curvaceous ink-black sculptures. By fusing clean lines and cutting-edge technology with natural textures and sleek finishes, lifestyle guru Colin Cowie and Miami-based interior architect Charles Allem have created a space to unwind and re-energize in the heart of Hong Kong. The Mira Hong Kong, a lustrous urban sanctuary that takes hotel standards to a new level, has proven to be an instant hit for owner Martin Lee. “We want to introduce a new kind of modern cultural lifestyle into Chinese society,” Lee says. “This is much more than just‘ new is better.’ This is about creating a cultural context for all of the changes in retail, hotels, restaurants and the so-called new wave of China that is influencing the world.” "The Mira Hong Kong brand introduces a chic, upscale hospitality concept designed for tech-savvy design aficionados who appreciate tasteful and stylish interiors and personalized, intuitive service,” says Lee.
