Theatre of the Silence (TOS) was founded in 2000 by a group of hearing impaired theatre artists in Hong Kong.

Through their work on stage and exchanges with theatres worldwide they spread the word that people, whether hearing or hearing impaired, should have an equal opportunity to enjoy and partake in arts.

The company's work embodies an alternative aesthetics based on the members' superb body movement, creating theatre pieces not only for those in a world of "silence" but also for those in the world beyond. TOS has toured to more than ten European, Asian and North American cities over past 3 years. Theatre of the Silence is one of the leading deaf theatres in the world and its members are outstanding cultural ambassadors of Hong Kong.
