The Italian Market 2018: TickiKids review

Cyberport Ocean View Court has once again thrown open its door to play host to the long-awaited 6th Summer Edition of the Italian Market 2018.

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macao began its tremendous journey in cultural and business exchange, establishing in 2012 a common platform for the Italian business community-based in Hong Kong and for native inhabitants. The Italian Market, a 2-day annual fair, has quickly acquired a good reputation as a rare and unique insight into authentic products from Italy. Meanwhile, this year’s Italian Market went hand in hand with the famous Italian brands, including big names such as Ferrero, Illy, San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna and others, boasting an astonishing 30 exhibitors with an array of excellent Italian food, wine, coffee, olive oil, alongside a range of traditionally handcrafted jewellery, clothing as well as homeware and beauty products.

Everything was available to taste and buy, so the Italian Market allowed its attendees to mix business (if you’re looking for establishing partnerships) with pleasure (if you’re a foodie or shopaholic).

But back to the children’s entertainment. Our partner blogger from Hong Kong, Loretta Lam, was sent there with her 9-year-old son Alvin and 7-year-old daughter Shenae on assignment for TickiKids.

Mrs Loretta Lam, “The spacious modern venue wore a festive look and was thematically decorated with colours of the Italian flag: red, green and white. Although there were many exhibitors and visitors, the place was not overcrowded. Everyone could deeply immerse themselves in the shopping and culinary delights of the region.

The organisers gave professional chefs the chance to demonstrate their technical excellence and Italian culinary subtleties. The hot and full-flavoured pizza cooked in practically the blink of an eye provided a compelling argument for ensuring the excellence of good traditional recipes. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious gelato is a dessert for the whole family and our must-try recommendation for anyone with a sweet tooth. It was produced for the market in accordance with the original recipe.

The great team of organisers was instrumental in the success of this year's Italian Market. There was yet another pleasant surprise sprung on the audience: everybody had an opportunity to get a goodie bag as a present when showing their tickets. When we opened the bag, there were a lot of gifts!

There was a children’s playground with lots of facilities to entertain your little ones. Additionally, the two clowns were funny and able to engage the kids by twisting balloon sculptures. The stand with motorcycles sealed Alvin’s and Shenae’s excitement as well as the rest of the children.

I hope we will have another chance to attend the Italian Market next year.”

Culture and business-aside, the Italian Market has become as much a fair about contacts and communication, and for thousands of people, it is a great social occasion, an opportunity to have fun with friends and families over the weekend.

TickiKids is delighted to be able to reveal the highlights of this hugely popular event.
