STEM ROVs Under Water Robotic 3 hour workshop with US MATE Certification by DA Sports & Co.
The MATE KGV Swim Center uses underwater robots – also known as remotely operated vehicles or ROVs – to teach science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and prepare students for technical careers.
Working in partnership with the Marine Technology Society ROV Hong Kong , MATE created the ROV competition as a way to:
- Engage students in STEM and expose them to science and technology careers
- Encourage students to develop and apply technical, teamwork, and problem solving skills
- Provide materials, and technical expertise to support student learning provide industry with skilled individuals who can fill workforce needs
1/ One is the MiniROV. This costs HK$1350 per person. (minium 4 person to open a workshops or call you to book your own workshops at +852 6370 3339 (Whatsapp) every saturday 9am to 12pm (3 hrs course) including material.
Age 6 -13 and parents welcome to get involved!
The objective is to build one small ROV per person. These are kits that require some basic soldering. The tether is 2m long and the idea is to teach the very basics of ROV in a day and to learn the basic skills of driving them. This is usually done in a fish tank or in swimmming pool. Minimum attendees is 20.
This is suited to non-engineering people and primary school student.
