Hong Kong Dance Company

Established in 1981 with the aim of promoting Chinese dance, the Hong Kong Dance Company was incorporated in 2001 as a charitable and non-profit-making institution, and is financially supported by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Since its inception, the Hong Kong Dance Company has staged over 100 productions, many of which were highly popular with critical acclaim. Recent productions include Qingming Riverside;The Smiling, Proud Wanderer; Snow Fox; Eagle Companions; Two Swallows – Ode to Wu Guanzhong; Spring Ritual‧Eulogy; Feng Shui; Pop Classics: Joseph Koo's Dance Melodies 2013; The Legend of Mulan; The Butterfly Lovers; Storm Clouds and L’Amour Immortel.

Children’s & Youth Troupes

Children’s Troupe

The Children’s Troupe of the Hong Kong Dance Company was established in 2006. The Troupe has about 200 members aged 6 to 12. The aim is to nurture the artistic interest of children through professional dance training courses and to raise their standard of appreciation in the art of Chinese dance. In order to build up the children’s sense of team work, strengthen their confidence and enthusiasm in dance and unleash their full potentials, the Company provides them opportunities for competitions and stage performances to showcase their talents.

Youth Troupe

Developing from the Children’s Troupe, the Company’s Youth Troupe was formed in 2008 to nurture artistic talents and to raise the standard of performance in Chinese dance. The Troupe has about 70 members aged 13 to 17. Members’ dance techniques and team-spirit are cultivated through rigorous training and professional performance. They will develop as mature individuals with personality and a respectable temperament.

The vision is to develop the Children’s Troupe and Youth Troupe into a forward-looking and representative performing group that can systematically raise the members’ artistic accomplishment and appreciative abilities. HK Dance Company pledges to provide an artistic environment where the young performers can enjoy the fun, freedom and beauty of creativity.
