There is a species of insect that displays features of both dragonflies and butterflies in Wetland Park.
It possesses two pairs of attractive butterfly-like amber wings. It flies as slowly as a butterfly, but its body is as robust as a dragonfly. People always cannot help but ask: What kind of insect is it? It is a dragonfly called "Variegated Flutterer".
As a member of the genius Rhyothemis, Variegated Flutterer has coluorful wings. The wings of males and females look similar, both of amber and brown variegated pattern. The tips of female's wings are colourless, looking a bit shorter at a glance. Look closely and you will find the variegated patterns of every individual are unique. It seems like each of them is wearing tailor-made clothes to show off!
"Elegant" is the best word to describe the Variegated Flutterer, not only for its appearance, but also its behavior. Variegated Flutterer is also one of the few dragonflies species that can make peace with on another in a group. On a calm day, it is not hard to see hundreds of Variegated Flutterer flying in the sky, as if there is a dragonflies dancing party.
Don't wait for the invitation to the dancing party - just come to Wetland Park now and join it!
