Happy Gabby Baby Concert

Olympian City and Citywalk proudly present: Hong Kong’s First In-mall Interactive Live Classical Music Concert for Babies and Kids.

Classical music proven to be greater stimulus for child’s creativity and imagination than online kids’ songs

Music is instrumental to the holistic early child development. Early musical exposure can inspire in babies and children a life-long love of music. Parents nowadays instinctively incorporate music into natal care to express love and joy, and to engage and interact with their babies. To sow the seeds of music appreciation among babies and children, the Happy Gabby Baby Concert, Hong Kong’s first large-scale in-mall interactive classical music concert designed for babies and children aged 0-6 years, will be staged live at Olympian City and Citywalk. The “Happy Gabby’s Classical Music Adventure” is adapted from the captivating music book “Happy Gabby Plays Classical Music” that features charming rhymes, catchy melodies and alluring drawings. The enchanting Happy Gabby music concert will be conducted by Mr Andrew Ling, Principal Violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, along with other renowned musicians at Olympian City and Citywalk between 29th June and 21st July. In the live concert, parents can enjoy the cosy snug of a sprawling lawn in the atriums of both shopping arcades with their children and dive into the world of lovely music. Be amazed at how your little child clap, dance and hum along with the music and interact with musicians and Happy Gabby. These are wonderful moments as you watch the creativity and imagination of your little one unfurl in an enjoyable music concert!

First-ever interactive classical music concert for babies and children in town

While the majority of mothers in Hong Kong promote prenatal stimulation and bond through classical music during pregnancy, experts point out that online kids’ songs, popular among local parents, are a passive resource to initiate new-born babies into music, not to mention the brainwashing side effects of the repetitive hooks they contain. Classical music, on the other hand, is a more positive and significant stimulus for infant’s and child’s growth, thanks to the complex musical structure which fosters physical and intellectual development. The Happy Gabby music concert, therefore, offers parents and their little ones a fabulous opportunity to immerse in classical music performance with playful interaction and group activities.

Music events are usually held at formal venues like Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, making concert going a dread for parents caught up in the toilsome endeavour of keeping their babies and kids quiet and still. In collaboration with the co-creators of the sought-after music book “Happy Gabby Plays Classical Music”, namely renowned author Jo Anne and Mr Andrew Ling, Principal Violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Olympian City and Citywalk will stage the “Happy Gabby’s Classical Music Adventure” – the first-ever classical music concert for babies and children at shopping malls. Parents and their little ones can immerse in the concert that spreads the joy of classical music in town.

Parents and their babies will find the Happy Gabby music concert amazingly delightful as compared to conventional music concerts. They can revel in the 15-century archaic ambience of the German city of Brunswick at Olympian City and Citywalk, where a verdant lawn spreads out as a cosy snug for the exploration of the wonder of classical music with the much-loved Happy Gabby. A group of acclaimed musicians will perform music with a wide array of musical instruments, namely violins, horns, harps, xylophones, snare drums and pianos. Parents and their babies will appreciate the charismatic beauty of classical masterpieces, such as Richard Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche, Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers, Saint-Saens’ Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Beethoven's Ode to Joy, and many more. The beloved Happy Gabby will interact warmly with parents and babies in the vibrant concert. Let’s embark on a journey through classical music and open young minds to the beautiful world of music!

Sow seeds of music appreciation for baby’s multi-sensory development

Infants possess natural curiosity about sound and affinity for music. In the Happy Gabby baby concert, parents and babies will listen to mesmerising melodies and rhythms that are instrumental to the development of infants and children through stages. Apart from fostering right brain development, classical music can help develop a creative and imaginative mind, empower visual thinking and unleash innate talents. The concert offers a great opportunity for infants and children to weave classical music into the threads of life.

The Happy Gabby music concert is an ideal catalyst for playful interaction as babies and children interact with musicians and Happy Gabby joyfully and play with various musical instruments including horns, harps and more. Babies can wiggle, sing and dance in the fun-filled atmosphere of the concert. Exposing babies and children to classical music early on is the best way to foster their multi-sensory development in sight, hearing and touch. Classical music is a life-enriching element that helps boost babies and young children’ coordination, concentration and musical talent.
