Come enjoy and experience marbling in an inspiring artist’s studio!
Marbling involves floating paints on a surface of thickened liquid and manipulating them to create patterns. Using combs, brushes, sticks and other implements, you move paint drops around to make swirls, flowers, organic shapes etc. The possibilities are endless! Specially prepared paper is then laid on top of the liquid to pick up the paints. Each dip results in a unique, beautiful pattern that transforms into abstract art!
What will I learn in this workshop?
- Origins of paper marbling
- How to prepare the marbling medium or size
- How to prepare paper to receive ink
- Various techniques for creating basic marbling patterns, such as stone, gel-git, peacock, non pareil, bouquet, etc
All materials, including marbling tray, tools, and aprons will be provided.
At the end of the workshop, you will receive a free A5 notebook with your personally selected marbled paper design on the cover*
*Note: To allow adequate drying and setting, all marbled papers together with the notebook will be mailed to participants via local post after the workshop.
