As every parent appreciates, these early years in education are a time of curiosity, discovery and learning.

Their aim is to provide a high quality early-years education in a rich, exciting and nurturing environment for your child.

Young children learn best when they feel cared for, happy and safe. At Avondale they offer a stimulating, thoughtfully planned learning environment with attractive teacher to child ratios, allowing them to truly get to know your child. Each child has Personal Achievement Targets (PATs) which enables teachers to track their development, and introduce bespoke activities that will stimulate learning.

The Avondale Pre-School Programme is based on principles that align with the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the Australian Early Years Framework with a curriculum that is inquiry, play-based and with a strong focus on developing early Literacy and Numeracy skills.They recognise that young children learn best through play with real-life learning experiences and this is reflected in their highly regarded curriculum.

The children are given opportunities to think, speak and listen in a range of situations, to develop their communication and language skills, as well as their confidence in expressing their thoughts and ideas.

The physical learning environment, both indoor and outdoor, provides the children with stimulating and challenging learning opportunities to develop their co-ordination and control and they are encouraged to work with equipment to develop both their gross motor and fine motor skills.

Children are supported to develop a positive sense of their own self and their abilities, build positive relationships with each other and develop care and respect for others.

The wonderful world of stories, nursery rhymes, songs, role-play and drama within a language rich learning environment, stimulates the children’s curiosity and helps their learning of phonics and the development of fundamental early reading and writing skills.
