Camp Asia Academy is proud to power the Gymnastics Academy; a year-round gymnastics program running every Saturday at Stamford American International School.
With a recreational and competitive pathway, the Gymnastics Academy caters for beginners through to competitive gymnasts. The Gymnastics Academy follows the Australian Level Program (ALP), delivering Level 1-4 for the recreational program and Level 4+ for the competitive squads.
Our 'Levels' (Term 1):
- Foundation Kinder (FK) (Ages 4-5 / ELV) provides a fun-filled environment for children to pick up gymnastics fundamentals and explore their physical prowess in a safe and positive environment. Gymnasts in the Kinder program begin their gymnastics journey with an introduction to Australian Gymnastics Lvl 1 skills! For this group, the sessions consist of a mix between structured lessons, play and free exploration time.
- Foundation Junior (FJ) (Ages 6-11 / G1-2 / G3-5) provides a healthy mix of fun and challenges as gymnasts begin their journey through the Australian Level Program (ALP), starting with Level 1. Due to safe management requirements, in Term 1 we have to group participants in grade-level (divisional) bubbles: FJ (I) will be for Grade 1-2 and FJ (II) for Grade 3-5. Children of all abilities are welcome to join the Foundation Junior programme and kickstart their love for gymnastics!
- Foundation Senior (FS) (Ages 6-11 / G1-2 / G3-5) is a more advanced class for those who have progressed from the Kinder and Junior classes. We currently have to run in grade-level (divisional) bubbles. FS (I) will be for Grade 1-2 and FS (II) for Grade 3-5. As a guide, these groups will be working on skills outlined in the Australian Levels Program (ALP) from Level 2 and beyond. In addition to fundamentals, participants will enjoy developing some cool acro-partnering skills and flips!
- Development Squad (RS) (Ages 6-11 / G3-5) is the next level up from Foundation Senior. Gymnasts get ready to bridge the gap from recreational to competitive gymnastics and will work on skills outlined in the Australian Levels 3-4 program. As the feeder program for the competitive sesssions, the skills do get more demanding; but Dev. squad sessions will continue to operate with a fun and light approach, with performances rather than strict routines.
- Semi-Competitive (SC) (Ages 8-11 / G4-5) is for gymnasts who have honed their skills in ALP Level 4 and above. Our semi-competitive and competitive squads will be condensed into one group for Term 1. Eventually, this will be split into two (Term 2) after coaches get to know the group better and have completed individual assessments for all participants. Both competitive groups will work with our most elite coaches, and require a 3-sessions-per-week minimum requirement. Opportunities to compete in local and overseas hosted competitions will be presented as events are confirmed by Singapore Gymnastics, International School Leagues (e.g. ACSIS) and other external hosts.
- Competitive Squad (CS) (Ages 9-11 / G4-5) is for gymnasts who have honed their skills in ALP Level 4 and above.
