This workshop is designed to foster cooperation from children while setting healthy boundaries in a loving way and explore how to create discipline while supporting children’s development of self esteem!
When faced with a challenge, adults must work very diligently to overcome their own reactivity and remain centered at all times when relating with children. Because children will test us, will cry to catch our attention, and take a little longer to accomplish a task than what we had scheduled according to our own expectations, this is no reason for us to become aggressive towards them. Adults must work with continuous patience and presence to maintain equanimity and emotional balance.
How do you connect with children?
Connection occurs during the intimate moments of care. By noticing positive things that children are doing throughout their day, the adult can focus on those positive aspects, and give them feedback. This type of acknowledgement and positive affirmation strengthens empathy and a positive self-image. The child comes to see that his participation matters, and that he is an integral part of his family life. By not focusing on the negative behaviors, children learn to cooperate without needing to be defiant. They come to see cooperation as a pleasurable moment, where they feel good about themselves.
