Nature Play Workshop (for parents/educators)

Nature Play Workshop (for parents/educators)

As city-scapes continue to face space shortages, and individual needs carve out much needed landscape, could playgrounds as we know it be obsolete?

Natural spaces are the first inspirations for all human play: to climb, to skip, to crawl through. A grassy slope, a slippery stream, an old fallen tree trunk. Join and gather to ponder on the childhood that happens on Mother Earth's playground: nature and the great outdoors.

Compelling research shows that children's development reap enormous benefits when they are outdoors in unstructured play. Indeed, research states that “Contrary to what would be expected, opportunities for outdoor play are diminishing, in consequence of globalization, technology expansion and urban growth.”

In this workshop for parents and educators, they will explore ways to bring children and childhood back to nature. Participants will be introduced to children's play in nature in its simplest and most inviting form. They will gain an understanding of children's natural play tendencies, movement development and how they unfold in the natural environment.

Being and playing in nature is for all ages including young babies. A young baby is most keenly aware of her surroundings and the importance and benefits of growing up in and around natural spaces will be also be discussed.
