As part of SG60, PLAY + MAKE invites children into a creative world where food, play, and imagination come together!
This interactive maker’s space at Children’s Museum Singapore encourages kids to explore local food culture through storytelling, crafting, and sensory experiences.
Mini Stage: Create Your Own Story
Kids can take centre stage and dream up their own adventures using quirky cardboard props. A kueh mould becomes a wheel, a polka dotted wall becomes cheese - there's no limit to what they can imagine.
Showcase Zone: Display Your Creations
Children's works made in the space are proudly displayed here, giving little makers a chance to shine and inspire others with their unique creations.
Main Maker's Space: Touch, Smell, Make!
Explore a world of textures, scents, and hands-on fun! Children can:
- Assemble their own outfit on a mannequin, inspired by fashion designers
- Feel the textures and observe the patterns on different fabric types
- Stage their own stories, fostering creativity and imagination
- Design their own kamcheng, inspired by a real kamcheng
- Make different types of kueh and throw a kueh tea party, embracing Singapore's love for food traditions
- Learn about different materials related to local food heritage: wood, metal and rattan
