Hydraulic Truck Workshop (6-11 years old)
What is waste and how can we reduce waste? How can we reuse materials to cut down on the trash we create? What is the difference between reuse and recycle? What is a landfill and how does a hydraulic dump truck works? These questions and more are explored during the Waste Management workshop where students brainstorm ways to reduce waste, explore how a hydraulic dump truck works, understand the science behind hydraulics and build their own hydraulic toy dump truck.
Students will:
- Identify the environmental issues caused waste
- Brainstorm about how to reduce waste
- Learn about the difference between reuse and recycle
- Learn how rubbish trucks bring waste to landfills
- Learn how a hydraulic dump truck works
- Design and construct a functional hydraulic toy dump truck.
- Students will bring home the dump truck that they build during the workshop and a handout.
