Workshop is limited to 10 participants and is suitable for children aged 7-10 years old.
Workshop will be held on Tuesday, 4th June 9.30 am to 11.00 am.
How can we reuse materials to cut down on the trash we create? What is the difference between reuse and recycle? What are the problems that Mother Earth is facing and how can we protect Mother Earth? These questions and more are explored during this workshop where students brainstorm ways to reuse materials and recycle some of those materials to build and create a toy catapult. Students will also understand the mechanics of a catapult and have lots of fun exploring with their self-made catapult!
Students will:
- Identify and define the difference between reuse and recycle
- Explore how objects can be reused to fit different purposes
- Brainstorm ways to reuse common objects and how that can utilize recycled materials to build toys instead of buying new toys
- Design a new toy using recycled materials
- Understand how to build a toy catapult using recycled materials
- Understand the mechanics of a catapult and the difference between a precise and accurate launch using the catapult
Students will bring home the Toy Catapult that they build during the workshop and a handout.
A project supported by the LearnSG Seed Fund.
