This workshop is a hands-on introduction to digital fabrication methods.
Humans are at the heart of all things made. But having humans involved in all steps of the design and build process is not necessarily the most efficient, nor the most accurate.
- If humans were to become an interplanetary species, do we bring heavy construction tools and a large pool of labour to build structures on other planets?
- How can we build physical objects by simply harnessing the power of computers and fabrication tools like laser cutters or 3D printers?
Please bring your laptop (preferably PC) so you can tinker with Dr. Chen’s software and build your own objects and parameters.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Lujie Chen is an Assistant Professor at Singapore University of Technology and Design. His research expertise is in optical metrology, medical imaging, and rapid prototyping. He has invented a series of computational methods for generating large-scale physical objects directly from digital models.
