“B.Y.O. Cinema”, a series of outdoor film screenings last year as part of media literacy efforts and to raise awareness of Singapore films among younger audiences.
This year, there will be at least 5 film screenings from June to end September.
“The B.Y.O Cinema" series of outdoor screenings organised by the Singapore Film Commission (SFC) was brought back by popular demand for its second run this year. As part of efforts by the SFC and IMDA to create awareness and appreciation of Singapore films, audiences were treated to local favourites such as Forever Fever (by Glen Goei), It’s a Great Great World (by Kelvin Tong), Ramen Teh (by Eric Khoo), Zombiepura (by Jacen Tan) and Lulu The Movie (by Michelle Chong)from June to September.”
Synopsis of movie: The movie opens with Lulu arriving in Singapore from her hometown in China looking for her one true love whom she had found and communicated with on Weibo. She soon finds out her dream lover is not the Prince Charming she imagined. Despite this, she decides to stay in Singapore and make something of herself. Throughout her journey, although she meets with mockery, discrimination and tough times, Lulu refuses to give up or compromise and finally succeeds after a series of (mis)adventures.
