A MINECRAFT TALE OF TWO VILLAGES
Use basic coding concepts to bring two villages together. Players will experience empathy and compassion for their neighbors, learn about cooperation and inclusion, and practice social-emotional skills.
Learning Outcomes
- Create coding solutions that include sequences, iteration, and loops
- Break down the steps needed to solve a problem into a precise sequence of instructions
- Iterate on coding solutions to complete a task
Challenges
- Build a dock at the edge of the shore
- Introduce the ravager to the Villagers
- Build a protective fence to protect the beet farm
- Till soil to prepare the field for farming.
- Get the elevator working to help the kids get their ball
- Build a motorized railway so that Villagers can go up the hill
Programming Concepts
- Sequencing: In a sequence structure, an action, or event, leads to the next ordered action in a predetermined order.
- Iteration: In Computer Science, iterations make things repeat over and over again.
- Loops: The loop command only repeats when a condition is met. If it is true, the while coding block will repeat the code and if it false, it will stop.
Requirements
- No coding experience is required
- Computer workstation to install Minecraft Education
- Minecraft login access is not required for Hour Of Code
- Zoom client in the workstation
