Suitable for high-rise and small apartment dwellers, bokashi composting helps to create healthy soil for your garden, promote biodiversity in soil microbiome, and reduce the need for synthetic fertilisers.
Apart from learning how to make bokashi compost, participants will also get to bring home the compost that they have made.

- 1.30 – 2.45 pm: Introduction to Effective Microorganisms and Bokashi Composting
- 2.45 – 3.00 pm: Refreshments
- 3.00 – 3.30 pm: Bokashi Composting Demonstration
- 3.30 – 4.00 pm: Make your own Bokashi Compost
- 4.00 to 4.30 pm: Q & A

- 1 kg Bokashi Powder

Items to bring (by participants)
- Fresh food waste from home (e.g. Citrus Fruit Peels, Vegetable Trimmings); Food Waste collected the previous day should be kept refrigerated)
About the Trainer: Dr Hia Hui Ching is an environmental consultant with a special interest in promoting sustainable living using Effective Microorganisms (EM) in the community. Her experience spans from water treatment and environmental education to zero-waste town design. She is currently the director of Green Faculty Pte Ltd in Singapore, and teaches part-time for NParks. Dr Hia graduated from Osaka University, Japan in 2004 with a PhD in Environmental Engineering.
