Opening of rejuvenated Chinese and Japanese Gardens

Opening of rejuvenated Chinese and Japanese Gardens at Jurong Lake Gardens

We’re thrilled to share that the rejuvenated Chinese and Japanese Gardens are now open! This marks the completion of Jurong Lake Gardens – Singapore’s first national gardens in the heartlands.

In line with its vision of being a people’s garden, the Gardens has a long tradition of community involvement, and was designed after extensive public consultation.

Familiar landmarks such as the Cloud Pagoda , Twin Pagoda and Bonsai Garden at Chinese Garden have been retained, in response to public feedback that they hold fond memories for many Singaporeans. We have also introduced new features including an edible garden with an outdoor kitchen and indoor plant factory, the Jurong Lake Gardens Gallery and recreational spaces for the community such as Pagoda Plaza and Ficus Lawn.

At Japanese Garden, new gardens that interweave greenery with waterscapes, such as the Water Lily Garden and Sunken Garden, reflect the strong public support for water-related garden features. Meanwhile, the Floral Garden is a showcase of community stewardship, as we partnered students and volunteers to bring their landscaping ideas to life!

In conjunction with the opening of Chinese and Japanese Gardens, the largest edition of Lights by the Lake will be held at the Gardens from 8 to 22 September 2024, with over 300 lanterns on display. Come join us with your family and friends, and don’t miss out on the dazzling lanterns and exciting lineup of activities!
