Children are exposed to different situations mainly, in school and at home. There is a limited amount of exposure that they have in interacting with their parents, together with children of the same age, while having enchanted learning experiences.
These learning experiences include sensory play. Sensory play is any activity that stimulates the 7 senses: sight, smell, touch, sound, taste, vestibular (sense of balance) and proprioceptive (sense of where each body part is in relation to the rest).
These activities promote exploration and inherently inspire children to use scientific processes while they play, build, scrutinize and explore. Children improve their thresholds for different sensory information, helping their brain to create stronger connections to process and respond to sensory information. Brain growth through sensory play intensifies a child’s senses, making him/her better able to use these senses for learning.
