A baby boy has just been born at the hospital, the first child of new parents, Maryam and Iqbal. They named him Mahir Mirza, which means “expert” and “intelligent”.
Mahir Mirza’s family members celebrate his birth with many meaningful customs and traditions like the aqiqah (sacrificing of goats) and cukur rambut (shaving of the head). Join this storytelling session to follow Mahir’s journey from his birth till his very first birthday. Discover some ways on how a batik cloth is used, the swaddling technique for babies, sing Malay lullabies, and take a closer look on the interesting designs of batik prints. This storytelling session also includes a guided tour and hands-on craft activity.
