Does your child find school work or normal enrichment classes too easy? Is he or she perpetually curious or gets easily bored with the mundane? Does your child imbibe/soak up information like a sponge?
If your answer is yes to all of the questions above then your child might be suitable for the Gifted Education Programme (GEP). You might ask if your child is really suitable for the GEP or how to identify if your child is gifted. Fret not as this workshop will be conducted by Mr Alvin Kuek, Mind Stretcher’s Academic Director (an ex-RI secondary & JC scholar / Kuok Foundation University Scholar). For the past decade, he has taught hundreds of GEP students at Mind Stretcher and was instrumental in conceptualising the GEP curricula to address the learning needs of gifted children.
In this workshop, the GEP Subject Experts will be touching on the following topics which will address your questions and doubts fully:
- The general characteristics of a gifted child
- What ‘Giftedness’ means in the context of the GEP (Gifted Education Programme)
- Nature Vs. Nurture – Can “Giftedness” be nurtured?
- What it takes to get into the GEP
- Can you prepare your child to get into the GEP?
- Assessment & Preparation for the GEP Tests
Since 2011, more than 500 students in our GEP Prep Lab Programmes have qualified for the GEP. Many of these students have also progressed to the Upper Primary Levels & beyond with us. It is this track record which has enabled us to be at the forefront of what we do, year after year. For instance, the National top 2017 PSLE score of 285 (which can be inferred from the Secondary School Selection Booklet issued to all P6 students this year) was the score obtained by a Mind Stretcher student.
