The Gallery invites the public to be part of a dance performance, Embracing Animal Pop, choreographed by Indonesian dance pioneer Jecko Siompo for the Gallery Children’s Biennale 2019: Embracing Wonder.
Starting at 3pm on 7 and 8 Sep 2019, the mobile participatory performance (estimated duration: 45 to 75 min) will take place across the Gallery’s public spaces. It will involve up to 30 adult-child pairs using the “animal pop” dance style––pioneered, practiced and taught by Siompo––that fuses animal-inspired movements and the more urban styles of pop and hip-hop.
Siompo’s practice as a world-renowned choreographer and performance artist has taken him to festivals and venues across the world, and we are excited to see what he will do at the Gallery Children’s Biennale 2019.
