Featuring around 35 talented youth artists of the Singapore Indian Youth Orchestra and Choir, Festive Fiesta embraces the vibrant festive spirit of Pongal and Chinese New Year.
The concert reflects the shared themes of renewal and togetherness, celebrating Singapore’s rich cultural diversity.
Accompanying them will be a multi-ethnic instrumental ensemble, a signature of SIOC’s concerts that reflects Singapore’s vibrant spirit. This performance promises a captivating musical journey, seamlessly blending Indian traditions with influences from other cultures. Together, they will uplift the festive spirit of both festivals, celebrating good times through music, culture, and unity, brought to life by the next generation of SIOC artists.
The Singapore Indian Orchestra & Choir (SIOC), a 39-year-old performing arts company, stands as one of the world’s largest semi-professional ensembles, showcasing the richness of Indian music through its diverse repertoire of traditional and contemporary compositions. Under the inspiring leadership of Smt. Lalitha Vaidyanathan (PBM), SIOC has redefined the boundaries of Indian music, engaging in exciting collaborations with renowned local and international composers and highlighting the multi-racial vibrance that Singapore is celebrated for.
With a vision to expand its strong foundation in Indian classical music by exploring innovative concepts and pushing creative boundaries, SIOC also prioritizes nurturing the next generation of musicians. This mission took shape with the formation of the 30-member Singapore Indian Youth Orchestra and Choir (SIYOC), which made its stage debut in 2023.
As SIOC proudly steps into its 40th anniversary this year, Festive Fiesta by the youth wing of SIOC takes center stage as the second concert in a year-long series of events celebrating and honoring this remarkable journey. Join us in this celebration!
