Formerly known as Maris Stella Kindergarten, St. Joseph's Institution International Preschool has a rich history that spans over six decades, starting with the arrival of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM) Sisters in Singapore in 1953.

For 69 years, the FMM Sisters dedicated themselves to imparting intellectual knowledge and instilling Christian values of love, faith, and hope.

In 2023, Maris Stella Kindergarten entered a new era under St. Joseph’s Institution International’s management, continuing the legacy of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. This partnership integrates history with SJI International’s educational expertise, offering a seamless learning journey.

The Learning Experience

In our Early Years programme (ages 2-4), we prioritise strong relationships with children and families, emphasising responsive care, respect, and engagement. Our curriculum includes teacher-led and child-initiated activities during caregiving routines and playtime to foster growth and understanding.

For Kindergarten (ages 4-6), we combine structured literacy and numeracy with an emergent curriculum. Subjects like language, numeracy, discovery, aesthetics, and health are integrated into trans-disciplinary themes. Children explore these areas to develop skills, attitudes, and social responsibility.

Pastoral care and character development are paramount, guided by our Lasallian Catholic ethos. Our goal is to ensure every child feels valued and loved.

Character Education

At SJI International Preschool, we are dedicated to fostering character development through The Virtues Project™. Rooted in shared virtues valued by diverse cultures and religions, this approach empowers our students to embody compassion, responsibility, and global awareness.

The Virtues Project™ transcends cultural and religious differences by emphasising virtues like kindness, empathy, and respect. These virtues serve as practical guides for our students’ interactions, decisions, and relationships, creating an atmosphere of understanding and harmony.

We integrate virtues seamlessly into daily activities, ensuring that character education is an integral part of our curriculum. This approach equips students, families, and educators with actionable strategies to practice virtues in real-life scenarios. Our commitment to The Virtues Project™ goes beyond early education; it’s a lifelong journey.
