Weekends at The Artground 15 - 16 June

Weekends at The Artground 15 - 16 June

The Artground has a variety of age-specific drop-in programmes on the weekends that participants will get to enjoy!

From 23th May till 15th September 2019, we present Happy Homebodies –  Happy Homebodies features creativity in the simplicity of everyday life. Make new discoveries about common objects at home which are beautifully transformed into an uncommon experience. The magic of this exploration is that it shows children new ways of looking at ordinary objects around us. From a simple dot to the intricate lines that characterise the different parts and objects in a house, journey through the little spaces which open up new possibilities for imagination and innovation! Entry into The Artground itself is free and donations are encouraged.

TAG Drop-in Programmes

Every weekend, The Artground organises a variety of age-specific drop-in programmes that participants will get to enjoy on a first come, first served basis, inside our Whitebox. Each programme will be charged at $10 per parent-child pair. You can purchase a single ticket, TAG cards for 5 or 10 + 1 sessions at $50 and $100 respectively at the reception. There is no registration for these activities as they are first come, first served. An announcement will be made 5 mins before each programme and the first XX number of children in the queue will get to enjoy the programme (XX refers to the age-specified & capacity of the programme, ie Shapes Splash! is for the first 20 children 4 years and up).

15th June, Saturday

  • 10.30am: Bollywood Jingles (4 - 8 years): Come join in with your favourite person to move your body to bollywood grooves in this fun and energetic session!
  • 11.30am: String Art Painting by Dyn (3 years and up): Make a unique postcard or greeting card by dipping string into different coloured paint and using the pulled string technique. The possibilities are endless.
  • 2.30pm: Shelly Snail by arts@homesg (3 years and up): Patterns are all around us! What kind of patterns would you have on your snails? Let’s find out using a few simple materials that you can find around the house.
  • 3.30pm: Thumpety Thump by Bounch and the band (4 - 6 years): A fun and energetic percussive experience where kids get to try hand held instruments and jam with the band.
  • 4.30pm: Storytelling through Indian Hand Gesture by Apsaras Asia [Ticketed Performance, booking required, 4 - 6 years]: One of the most striking features of Indian classical dance is the use of hand gestures. Speaking in dance via gestures, rather than orally, this art form is used to visually convey story, events or describing objects, as well expressing emotions.

16th June, Sunday

  • 10.30am: Cardboard City by Stan (Strictly Pre-Walking babies): An exploration for pre-walking babies to inhabit and extend their spatial awareness amongst the everyday materials in this City designed just for them.
  • 11.30am: Terrific Tales by The Storytelling Centre Limited (3 - 7 years): Do you know why the sky is so high? Have you heard of the greedy frog who swallowed all the water? And what happened to the dragon who could bring rain? Listen to stories from the natural world as told by our Young Storytellers.
  • 2.30pm: No. 1 Dad Trophy by arts@homesg (3 years and above): Make and design a trophy for your super No.1 Dad with recycle materials.
  • 3.30pm: Dance Playground by Rolypoly Family (4 - 8 years): Dance Playground is where we explore dance and movement through unusual play structures and get (a little) messy. We play games that transform dance and movement into visual forms – watch the wiggles turn into squiggles!
  • 4.30pm: How To Design Superheroes by ACAS (6 years and above): Everyone loves superheroes! This workshop will share with Kids & Parents the best techniques for applying colour pencils to any design. With a huge range of costume types to choose from, patrons will enjoy learning about how to choose an appropriate number of colours, and where to place them for maximum dynamism & contrast.
