When we were young, we usually draw/colour based on our expressive emotions
For example, we draw a happy face when we are happy, we draw a sad face when we are sad. When we are filled with joy, we use bright colours and when we are distraught and lonely, we fill the canvas with dull and sullen colours. We don’t really care what others think of us, we do as we please and say what we want to say.
In this session, we return to the childlike times where we were free yet vulnerable, to release traumas, fears and conditions that we hold on to which have built up throughout the years. These may make us feel safe but they hinder us from moving forward.
We will indulge in a few mindful exercises which involve mediums like crayons, paint, pencils, paper and an open heart.
Benefits:
- Channel your inner child and heal your past.
- Concentrating on artwork/imagery will facilitate the replacement of negative thoughts and images with pleasant ones.
- Working with artwork is known to reduce stress levels, improve your memory and cognitive flexibility.
- It’s great fun.
