Providing a platform that encourages young musicians to deepen their quest for music excellence
The roots of the ITE College West Symphonic Band- West Symphonia, can be traced from its humble beginning before 2010 as the Concert Band at the Clementi Campus before the band was shifted to the single campus in Choa Chu Kang Grove to replace its five smaller network campuses as part of ITE's "One ITE System, Three Colleges" plan. Upon the merger in 2010, the ITE College West Brass Corps was formed. The corps was tasked to fulfil ceremonial duties at various events such as the opening ceremony of the school’s campus, which was then preceded by Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong and President, Dr Tony Tan in 2011.
In 2013, the Brass Corps was converted to a wind symphony and was named the ‘Yamato Wind Symphony’. In the pursuit for music excellence, the band worked hard and clinched a Gold award at the 2nd Division National Band Competition in August 2014; its first competition. The band was subsequently renamed in 2016 to ‘ITE West Symphonia’ to better represent the college.
The primary aim of ITE West Symphonia is to support all college’s events and to provide a platform that encourages young musicians to deepen their quest for music excellence.
With the continued support of the Principal, Management staff, and Student Development Officer Mr Jonathan Khoo and Band Advisor Mr Julius Teng, the ITE West Symphonia will continue to flourish as an outstanding band.
