Polyglot Theatre’s vision is of a future where children are powerful: artistically, culturally and socially.
This professional development workshop introduces artists to Polyglot’s philosophy and process of child-led creation. The Polyglot process can build children’s confidence in their natural ability, empower them to follow their own impulses, make decisions, interpret and make meaning of their world.
Through creative and highly collaborative exercises using simple materials, artists will gain a deeper understanding of how to facilitate opportunities and experiences for children to play, create, and lead. Artists will appreciate how they, as adult in the room, can become the learner, participant and observer; following children’s desire lines down unexpected paths of aesthetic and imaginative invention
This workshop will assist artists by building on their existing practice and approach to working with children, and offer ways to hold space and frame the energy of children and enable authentic participation.
This workshop is open to all artists, from emerging to experienced.
Due to the limited capacity, Esplanade reserves the right to reject applications once registration is full.
