Gardens by the Bay, in collaboration with the Embassy of Peru and Inkaterra, presents Orchids of Machu Picchu, featuring an enchanting display of orchids found only in the region of the UNESCO world heritage site. The floral display is inspired by the Inca Trail, a network of roads once connecting the ancient Inca Empire. Visitors can go back in time and walk the same path taken by a 15th century Inca emperor on his pilgrimage, amidst a plethora of orchids little seen in this part of the world.
A special collection of preserved orchids in glass resin will also be on display in an Orquideario – the Spanish word for Orchidarium, a display terrarium specifically featuring orchids. This is the first time this precious collection that captures the flowers' intricate beauty and delicate details has been brought out of Peru, and they will be showcased alongside other species and hybrids of Peruvian ancestry.
