Kindercampus is a privately owned school run by Sharon Howe and Kok Lai Chun.
It was set up to provide high quality education and care for young children.
Kindercampus was the first school to adopt Lilian Katz project approach as part of its curriculum. The project approach is widely recognized by early childhood educators in Singapore and internationally. Kindercampus is also recognized to provide a strong character foundation and academic excellence.
The teachers of their school are warm and nurturing and they care for all the children in the school. They are also committed to each child's success in their learning development. The commitment of teachers is the striving force which inspires children to develop resilience and competence.
The students of Kindercampus are respected as individuals with great potential. They aim to provide an environment that each child is able to develop to his/her highest abilities.
They believe that flexible grouping of children is important as it is not necessary that children must always be grouped according to age to learn together. Instead, a mixed age group of children having similar strengths and abilities learn better together. As they know, all children are born intrincitly motivated to learn and they are all individuals with different strengths and abilities as well as learning needs. They believe in identifying each child's abilities, support their learning so that their interests are always kept high and they are challenged to their highest potential. These children who are highly motivated learners also display higher cognitive maturity compared to their peers.
The gifted program provides the following flexible grouping in their school to cater to individual learning needs of children between 4 to 6 years old:
- Curriculum Compacting - pretesting and allowing child to advance in his academic learning at his pace.
- Whole Grade Acceleration (Grade Skipping) - for children who are able to cope and keep up with the academic work.
- Cluster grouping - a flexible grouping based on interest and capability on subject areas.
- Single Subject (or focused) Acceleration - for children who are capable of advanced level work for a single subject.
- Independent study - special interest topics for individual child's specific needs and learning styles.
- Gifted Resource Classes (Pull-out program) - for children identified as gifted children to exercise higher order thinking skills.
- Enrichment - for all children in the school.
- Mentorship - for gifted children to work with an adult professional in an area of interest or talent.
