Lucky Pig!

Lucky Pig!

Celebrate the coming of the Chinese New Year at MINT Museum of Toys!

Take a guided tour through the museum and learn about the animals and stories that inspired the Chinese Zodiac. From dragons to monkeys to pigs, animals have been an important part of children’s play for generations.

Programme
Discover what animals get along best with the pig, find your zodiac sign and make your own Lucky Pig in this 1.5-hour tour and workshop, brought to you by Make & Play.

Lucky Pig! begins with a warm welcome and the story of the Jade Emperor’s race of the Zodiac Animals, followed by a guided tour of the museum featuring animals in the zodiac calendar. Each animal has unique qualities and a story to tell, just like the toys on display at MINT.

Finally, after the tour, you will have the opportunity to create your own Year of the Pig toy in the auspicious colours of red and gold, using colourful craft supplies provided by the museum. Bring your Lucky Pig home with you and place it by your bed for a year of happiness and success!

Who may attend?
This programme is recommended for families with children aged 5 – 12 years old.

What will your child learn?

Children will learn about the origin of the Chinese Zodiac and the significance of each animal in the story, as well as what their own Zodiac means.

They will also explore all the creativity that toymakers of old demonstrated in their designs, expanding their knowledge and idea of the purpose and history of toys and entertainment through the years.
