The Little Players Celebrates World Puppetry Day! Puppetry Open House 2025

In celebration of World Puppetry Day, The Little Players will be hosting a puppetry-filled weekend for families at ONE-TWO-SIX Cairnhill Arts Centre.

In this Puppetry Open House, parents and children with various interests can choose between watching a puppetry storytelling, learning the basics of puppet manipulation, making a shadow puppet, or attending all three!

Through these specially curated puppetry programmes, parents and children will be encouraged to exercise their creativity and  imagination through paired activities which in turn strengthen their bond as a family.

Programme Details:

  • Puppetry Storytelling (30mins)

Ah Girl has a cherished comfort blanket she calls “Fuzzy Wuzzy”. She adores everything about it, especially its soothing, familiar scent. It is her faithful bedtime companion every night. One morning, she discovers her beloved Fuzzy Wuzzy torn up in the washing machine. Join Ah Girl in this interactive and fun-filled storytelling and help her fix her Fuzzy, Wuzzy.

At the end of the storytelling session, parents and children will have the opportunity to take photos with the puppet and have a hands-on experience with manipulating the puppets.

In this Introduction to Puppetry workshop, parents and children will have a hands-on experience of five forms of puppetry such as – Traditional Chinese Hand Puppetry, Rod Puppetry, String Puppetry, Object Puppetry and Mask Puppetry. During the session, parents and children will also be given the opportunity to work as a pair to create stories together as a family.

  • Little Monkey Shadow Puppet-Making Workshop (60mins)

In this Little Monkey puppet-making workshop, children and parents will be making their own shadow puppets using simple materials such as paper cut-outs, ice-cream sticks, strings, tracing paper and cellophane paper.
