Stay Home Online Holiday Camp – For Ages 5 – 7
- 11 – 15 May 2020
In this holiday program, students will be able to use their imagination and creativity to code an animated joke/story using Tynker.
Program Outline:
- Day 1: Write a script for your animated joke/story
- Day 2: Introduction to Tynker
- Day 3: Draw out a flowchart to code an animated joke/story
- Day 4: Code your animated joke/story
- Day 5: Presentation
Stay Home Online Holiday Camp – For Ages 8 – 10
- 18 – 22 May
Day 1:
- Introduction to Tynker and Angry Bird
This session serves as a light-hearted introduction to Tynker and angry bird games. Students can unleash their creativity when they create their own sounds, message box, angry bird characters, platforms, dynamites and backgrounds. They will also learn about the concept of gravity and physics in an angry bird game, which would broaden their understanding on how physics is important in games.
Day 2:
- Explosions with Loops
In this session, students will program out their angry bird being shot from a catapult. They would also be taught on how to control the direction in which their catapult faces. Students would also use loops to create explosions for their dynamites, which allows them to learn about pattern recognition.
Day 3:
- Setting Conditions for Pigs’ Disappearance
This session allows students to understand how conditions are used in a fun manner. Using this concept, they would learn how to program pigs disappearing when angry birds collide with them. Students can use their own imagination by making the pigs disappear with explosions and sound effects.
Day 4:
- Points System
Students are introduced to the concept of variables in this session. They would create their own point system in the game that counts the number of pigs knocked. Students can create a unique victory segment by changing the background or creating popup message boxes.
Day 5:
- Lives System
Using the concept of the variable they have learned, they would create a lives system in the game. Students can customise the system to their own wants and program their angry bird to change every time a life is lost.

Day 2:
- Setting Conditions for Pigs’ Disappearance
In this session, students will program a mini game which involves shooting an object by controlling linear velocity and density. They will use these concepts learned in the mini game to program their angry bird speed and trajectory. They would also be taught how to create and customise their obstacle. . Students would also be taught on how to program the collision. This session allows students to understand how conditions are used in a fun manner. Using this concept, they will learn the art of abstraction and their angry bird game’s pigs to disappear when angry birds collide with them.
Day 3:
- Explosions with Loops and Cannon Aiming System
Students will use the concepts they have learned from previous lessons to program their angry bird being shot from a cannon. They will also be taught on how to control the direction in which their cannon faces. Students will also use the concept of loops to create explosions for their dynamites, which allows them to learn about pattern recognition.
Day 4:
- Using Variables in Bubble Pop
Students will use the concepts they have learned from the previous lessons to program their angry bird to be shot from different firing modes, The firing modes are pistol, cannon and machine gun. They will also be taught on how to control the size of the bird and the control the different number of birds fired out. Students will also use the concept of loops to program a machine gun to fire a series of shots in order to kill multiple birds.
Day 5:
- Win / Lose System
The students will be taught on how to create a King Pig. Using conditional concepts to control the winning and losing outcome. Students will be given time to create their own version of angry bird.
