Develop your child’s narrative writing skills with practical tips and hands-on exercises in this series of programmes by authors AJ Low, Debra Ann Francisco and Laura Wood



Each child will attend one workshop and a talk which will introduce them to writing sci-fi, mysteries, food-inspired poetry and more. 

This session is recommended for ages 9 to 12. Parents should return to pick their children at 12.30pm.
The schedule for the morning is as follow:

A. Choose Your Own Adventure by AJ Low

B. Food for Thought (And Writing) by Debra Ann Francisco
 

  • 11.30am – 11.45am Break
     
  • 11.45am – 12.30pm Laura Wood: The Curious Case of Writing Mysteries
     
  • 12.30pm – 1.00pm Book sales and signing

Participants are advised to bring writing materials, a sweater, a water bottle and light snack to for the break.

Workshop A: Choose Your Own Adventure

Featuring AJ Low

What does it take to convert traditional wuxia stories to science fiction or a modern-day detective story? Explore writing stories in different genres with AJ Low, the authors of the Sherlock Sam series, and pick up key writing skills to adapt your stories amid shapeshifters, parallel timelines and more! 

Workshop B: Food for Thought (And Writing)

Featuring Debra Ann Francisco

Food can help you grow and develop… your narratives! Join teaching specialist and children’s author, Debra Ann Francisco, as she introduces participants to the different forms of writing, such as poetry and prose, using food as a feature.
