A window into the life of Singapore's Peranakan community at Baba House
Baba House was officially opened in September 2008. Built in the 1890s, the house belonged to an affluent Peranakan Chinese family, and now it is preserved as a heritage house that helps to understand and appreciate the culture of Straits Chinese. The architecture of the shophouse, as well as its interiors with all the furnishing and decorative features have been lovingly restored by the National University of Singapore, providing a deep insight into the life of Peranakan community in Singapore.
